Western Union website integration

Use the API response to display Western Union as your payment option. Adding the API alone does not change your website; render its logo and link using the example below.

Payment request API

Returns a payment ID and checkoutUrl. Use the checkoutUrl to show the amount and submit a receipt. Repeating the same merchant/reference returns the same request.

Payment status API

GET /api/payment-status?id=PAYMENT_ID

Returns amount, currency, order reference, status and verifiedAt. Your platform backend should poll this endpoint and update the matching order only when status is Received. Use the same payment ID; do not credit the order twice.

Example response
Backend integrations must send Authorization: Bearer PAYMENTS_API_KEY from your server. Keep the key private. Browser requests use your signed-in session.
Admin API: GET /api/merchants · POST /api/merchants · PUT /api/merchants/:id · POST /api/active. Writes require the owner’s signed-in identity. SQ Pay supplies the payment-option display and recipient details. Transfers are completed on Western Union’s official site; no Western Union partner connection is configured.
Payments & receipt review
Requested amounts from your API. Received amounts are verified manually. Totals are separated by currency.
Agent Admin accounts
Masteradmin creates and manages agent accounts. Agent Admin users can manage merchant accounts, review receipts and confirm payments. They cannot create or disable other users.
Add merchant
Enter the recipient’s name exactly as it appears on their identification document; for bank transfers, use the account-holder name. Required details and supported currencies vary by destination. The sender will complete any additional checks on Western Union.
